Aftercare for families after mediation

The agreement was the first step. This is every one after it.

Shared Steps is a co-parenting app that turns what you agreed in mediation into the plan both homes actually follow: the schedule, handovers, decisions, shared costs and calls, in one calm place that belongs to neither of you and works for your child.

Coming soon to iPhone and Android. Are you a mediator?

  • No primary parent
  • No location tracking
  • Calls without sharing numbers
  • Built around your child

Thirty-seven seconds on what happens after mediation

What changes when the agreement becomes a plan you both follow.

Mediation ends with a document. Family life carries on the next morning.

You worked hard to reach an agreement. Then comes the part nobody hands you a plan for: the first changed handover, the school trip nobody budgeted, the summer holiday that needs deciding in a hurry.

Shared Steps keeps that agreement alive. It is where the two of you check what you agreed, suggest a change, settle a cost and let the calendar take care of the rest, without reopening old arguments every time.

From the mediation room to a Tuesday afternoon

Four steps, and after the second one it simply becomes how your family runs.

  1. 1

    You reach an agreement

With your mediator, you settle how care, handovers, holidays and costs will work.

  2. 2

    You're both invited

Your mediator can invite you both, or one of you starts the plan and sends the other a code. Each of you has your own account, and nobody owns the family.

  3. 3

    The agreement becomes your plan

What you agreed turns into a shared calendar, handover notes, tasks and a clear record of who pays for what.

  4. 4

    It grows with your children

When life changes, either of you can propose an update. Agreed changes go straight into the plan.

Everything two homes need to share, and nothing they don't

The small things that make a week go smoothly

  • Handover check-ins

Tap "on my way", "running late" or "done" when you choose to. It shares a time you picked, never your location.

  • Shared tasks

Book the dentist, pack the PE kit, return the permission slip. Give it to one of you or both, with a due date.

  • Child profiles

School, year group, allergies, shoe size: the details both homes need, kept in one place and always current.

  • Document reminders

Know whose passport expires when. We keep the date and the name of the document, not the document itself.

  • A living agreement

What you agreed, written down as what you currently do. Either of you can reopen a section as your children grow.

  • A view for your child

A gentle, read-only calendar so your child can see where they'll be and when. No messages, costs or decisions, ever.

Designed to lower the temperature

Most apps are built to be opened as often as possible. Ours is built so you can close it sooner, and feel a little calmer than when you opened it.

Neutral by design
There's no account holder and no primary parent. You each join on your own terms, choose how you're known, and see the same plan.
Suggestions, never scores
The calm check is private and optional. It never grades you, blocks a message, or rewrites what you meant to say.
Private by construction
No GPS, no background tracking, no file vault of your life. You can talk without ever sharing a phone number. Face ID or a fingerprint can lock the app, and that stays on your phone.
Honest language
An unsettled decision is "in discussion", not "disputed". An agreement records what you do now; it isn't a ruling about who was right.
Shared StepsWhy we built it

Dear fellow parent,

Hi, I'm Josh. I'm a co‑parent, just like you.

Mediation gets you to an agreement. Then real life starts: the handover that runs late, the school trip that needs paying for, the message you rewrite five times before you dare to send it.

Most co-parenting tools felt like they were built for conflict, all logs and evidence. That isn't what we needed. We needed one calm place to keep the plan we'd agreed, so the practical things stayed practical and the children never had to feel the gap between two homes.

So our team built the app we wished we'd had. Every choice in it, from having no primary parent to a calm check only you can see, comes back to one question: will this make the next handover a little easier?

If it does that for your family, it's doing its job. If it doesn't, I'd genuinely like to hear why: hello@sharedsteps.app.

Warmly,

JoshCo-parent, and part of the Shared Steps team

For mediation practices: aftercare your families will actually use

The agreement you helped a family reach is only as good as the months that follow it. Shared Steps gives your clients somewhere to put it into practice, and gives your practice a reason to stay part of their story.

See how partnering works
  • Invite families as part of your service

Each parent receives their own invitation from your practice, so the first thing they see is a name they already trust.

  • Agreements that don't end up in a drawer

The arrangements you worked through become the shared calendar, costs and tasks a family uses every week.

  • A way back when things change

When a family needs a review, they can ask for support from inside their plan, and it reaches your team.

  • One consistent, independent product

Shared Steps partners with practices rather than belonging to one, so families get the same calm experience wherever they started.

One subscription covers you both

One plan with everything in it, for the whole family. Either parent can subscribe, and the other is covered without paying again. Cancel from your phone's settings whenever you like.

Questions parents ask us

Does the other parent have to join?

Shared Steps works best when you both use it, because that's where the calendar, proposals and costs come alive. Each of you joins with your own invitation and your own account, and you both see the same plan. Nobody can join on the other's behalf.

Do we need to have been through mediation?

No. Shared Steps was shaped around life after mediation, but any two parents who want a calmer shared plan can use it. If you have a written arrangement, it gives you a head start.

How is Shared Steps different from other co-parenting apps?

Many co-parenting apps are built around records for court, and several charge each parent separately. Shared Steps is built for running an agreement day to day after mediation, with one subscription for the whole family. See how Shared Steps compares with OurFamilyWizard, TalkingParents, AppClose, 2houses and amicable.

Is this a record for court?

That isn't what we're for. Shared Steps is there to help you carry out what you've agreed, not to gather evidence against each other. If you need legal advice, please speak to a family solicitor.

Can the other parent see where I am?

Never. There is no location tracking. A handover check-in only shares the update and the time you chose to send. After a while, an "on my way" estimate stops being shown as live.

Can we call each other without sharing phone numbers?

Yes. Calls happen inside Shared Steps, so neither of you needs the other's number, and nobody's number is shown. Calls are by voice, with video as an extra you can both choose to switch on, and calls switch on only when you have both agreed to them; either of you can switch them off at any time, without giving a reason.

Can the other parent call me whenever they like?

Only when you say so. You choose your own call hours, can pause calls for an hour, a night or until you turn them back on, and can allow calls around handovers for the running-late moments. The other parent sees when you can be called, never why. Shared Steps isn't an emergency line: in an emergency, call 999.

What can my child see?

Only the child's view: a simple calendar of where they'll be and when. Messages, proposals, costs, documents and tasks aren't part of it at all.

What happens to our information?

It's used to run your family's plan and nothing else. We don't show adverts, and we don't store your documents, only the reminders you create about them.
